Hi Dave:
I just wanted to let you know, and cannot help but send this now to express the feedback that I have been getting from your recent classes conducted here on site. Everyone that attended, expresses that this is the BEST CLASS they have ever received, (and I am not exaggerating), in comparison to other Speaker Reps from the past. They state that your content of class is very knowledgeable and covers all aspects of need in a volatile situation, including the extended training on proper and safe takedown or hands on procedures!
Thank God for you, and see you soon.

Dave,
I really wanted to emphasize to you how delighted I was with this course. I’ve been to many educational seminars and am not sure that I’ve ever encountered an instructor as talented as you. I know you are a master of the techniques, but I am referring to the manner in which you deliver them. I believe you make an irreplaceable difference in peoples lives with your training, and a difference in the lives of those we will train. You set the bar high and it is with nothing but respect for you that I will attempt to share this vital information. I sincerely thank you for your time. As I am preparing to sit in a hot tub to relieve sore muscles, I know this class empowers me as a woman and health care provider. What a great birthday present to myself. I’m sorry your dream did not come true in 1996 but what you’ve done for others will outlive any title won.
Thank you and God Bless you!

During the week of September 22 to 26, 2008, I was fortunate enough to attend several instructor training classes taught by Dave Fowler of Personal Safety Training, Inc. These classes consisted of Defensive Tactics Instructor (16-hours); OCAT (OC) Instructor (8-hours); PATH (Handcuffing) Instructor (8-hours) and MEB (Expandable Baton) Instructor (8-hours). At the end of the week I left as a certified instructor in all those areas. I found the training classes to be intense and in-depth with plenty of hands on practice. Mr. Fowler took the time to answer all the questions and participated in the hands on training. At the conclusion of each training day I left with a new found confidence in these areas. As a former police officer in the State of Washington, I feel that the training I received from Dave and his company far exceeded the defensive tactics and baton training the officers in the jurisdiction I worked received at yearly police skills refresher courses. The OC Pepper and Handcuffing courses provided me with new tactics in these areas. As the training manager for a major mall, and two 4-Star hotels in Bellevue, Washington, I am responsible for the training and recertification’s of approximately 50 patrol officers and a traffic division. The instructor training I received from Dave and company, in my opinion will make my job easier in training my staff to be more proficient and professional. I highly recommend any of the courses to those who wish to become instructors for their departments or agencies.

Mr. Fowler,
I just want to take a moment to express my appreciation for the knowledge and skills I have received from being a Management of Aggressive Behavior Instructor. I have been a MOAB instructor for a few years now and most recently participated in a re-certification course to maintain my MOAB instructor compliance. I have successfully trained almost 100 private security officers for a premier retail shopping resort in Orange County California. I am impressed on the level of professionalism and “personal safety” approach my officers have demonstrated as a result of MOAB. Our officers are exemplary in their dealing with people as a result of the techniques they have learned through MOAB. I notice little things they do in their everyday course of duties in dealing with all people whether aggressive or non-aggressive. It is amazing to see the respect and cooperation they receive based on simple principles such as body language, personal space and eye contact. Recently a fellow officer had an encounter with an aggressive individual where he relied on his MOAB training defense technique. The event was both successful and “win-win” for the aggressor and the officer, neither were hurt and compliance was achieved. It was and remains a great investment for our public perception and the safety of our officers. I encourage your success and appreciate your professional approach to teaching others how to safely deal with everyday situations. I have since changed agencies and now working for Hyatt Regency Huntington Resort and Spa, I will continue to train MOAB and it’s various methods and techniques to all of my officers and colleagues.
With Best Regards,
Dennis Riera, Former Training sergeant, South Coast Plaza Security Inc.

Dear Mr. Fowler,
I recently completed all of the courses offered and taught by you, and, I have to say that they are the most comprehensive courses that I have ever attended. Having worked in Law Enforcement and supervisory assignments as well as being a certified field-training officer. I have to thank you for all of your help and assistance in teaching me the right way to train officers. I have attended many training programs throughout many years, and I learned more from your courses than I did in any of the others. I want to extend my personal thanks for making my officers and myself better and more proficient in our day-to-day duties dealing with the public. It has kept my officer injuries at zero. I have had several incidents where all of the training learned has come into play and kept my staff safe and the perpetrators in handcuffs. It has opened our eyes to a completely new world of training. I wish all officers, from police to security would take these courses and see the benefit the training holds for all officers, to go home safe to their family’s.
Again, thank you,

Mr. Fowler,
My name is James Lane and I am with a Corporate Security agency in Quincy, WA. I was discussing the benefits of the Management of Aggressive Behavior program with Liberty Lake Security Manager Jay Pitt the other day, and we discussed a specific incident where my MOAB training literally saved my life. He suggested sending on the information to you. On August 9th, 2006, at approximately 0300 hours, I was working as the site security manager during the construction phase of our site. I was doing a routine patrol of the storage bins / storage yard when I came across two individuals who were snooping about, presumably looking for copper wire (high commodity for drug-users and addicts alike). I surprised them about as much as they surprised me, and one of them attacked me. I defended myself from the first individual and turned to face the other. The second individual pulled a 9mm handgun and told me to turn around, hands on my head, and get on my knees. Trying not to provoke him, I did as I was told. He then placed the barrel of his gun to the back of my head. Immediately, my MOAB training suddenly kicked into gear. Attempting to de-escalate the situation verbally, I introduced myself. My training has taught me that if you can appear more human and personable to someone, they are less likely to do harm towards you. I told him that I was just recently married, and I told him her name as well. He yelled a profanity at me, but I continued. I asked him what his name was. If he was married. If he had kids. I told him to think about his kids and family if he went through with this. He hesitated a moment, and instead of pulling the trigger he simply struck me with the gun and the two men ran off. To make a long story short, I spent two days in the hospital with a severe concussion. Police reports were made, but the suspects were never found. I truly believe that it was my MOAB training, above all else, that saved my life that night. Most people in that situation can only think about the worst possible outcome. Some resort to tears, others resort to rage. My training allowed me to remain calm and cool, allowed me to breathe normally and it allowed me to think clearly. I hold the MOAB program, and my instructor Jay Pitt, in the highest regard and wish that all security professionals had the opportunity to experience this class. I have since attempted to garner interest in my officers for the program (interest was high as of last November) and am currently awaiting client approval. Thank you for your time in reading this. I could not recommend the Management of Aggressive Behavior program more.
Thanks,
James R. Lane

Dave,
As contracted security manager serving a high tech and federally regulated telecom customer, with high access control requirements coupled with hands off policies, we sought a de-escalation discipline, that we could train our security staff with. The corporate work force dynamic has become more complex and our concern of mitigating risks of potential workplace violence becomes a top concern of our business. Coupled with the factor that the liability inherent in the use of weapons and applying subjective reasonable force, recognizing and managing workplace behavior becomes a critical business approach.
As a manager, becoming certified as an instructor in Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB®) provides me with a de-escalation competency option to certify, train and better equip my security staff with. Being able to provide our officers and customers with the means to identify and contain potential incidents was a perfect proactive solution, that fits our customer’s business needs. Our staff’s development through MOAB has provided new confidence in their ability to provide conflict resolution in an environment where resources can be limited and has benefited our ability to recognize concerning behavior and mitigate it.

Dave,
I wanted to thank you for the incredible training opportunity you provided last week with the three day MOAB course. Although my attendance was for recertification I found the revised curriculum to be just as interesting and rewarding as my initial experience. The replacement of the use of force continuum with levels of resistance and control management is not only progressive but a highly desirable view of this most pertinent subject. I am pleased at the amount of work and updating that has occurred to ensure the MOAB program remains relevant and pertinent to today’s work environment. The new option of teaching the MOAB Introduction with part 3 (defensive techniques) is the option I have by default been using and desired in the time stressed corporate world. Employees are starved for simple means of protecting themselves or loved ones from harm and Part 3 achieves this goal.
In the numerous security programs I have attended since 1979, (Marines, State Department and now Starbucks Coffee Company) I can honestly say that yours are within the top two. Your passion for training and the student interaction is superior and evident in all your actions. You display tremendous concern and care for all your students to ensure all have a positive training experience and successfully complete the program and yet remain humble in doing so, making everyone in the class regardless of past experience feel important and welcome. Your real world examples and poignant video clips reinforced your teaching points as well as reinforced the material with concrete examples that everyone could relate too.
Within the field of executive and dignitary protection I have not found any system better suited for close protection work. Since the goal of dignitary and executive protection is to avoid confrontations and if unable too, to cover and evacuate the principal, the system’s foundation on recognition of problems is exactly what we do as protection specialists. In my experience being able to “read” people based upon the non verbal communication (body language) they emit, is the secret of the close protection work. MOAB’s emphasis on personal space and reactionary distance, eye communications, and facial expressions, posture and gestures is exactly what the Secret Service or agents of the Diplomatic Security Service cue on when dealing with potential threat persons. The defensive skills taught in MOAB are simple, easily taught and understood. Their emphasis on gross motor skills makes them more likely to be used and employed in a stress or life threatening situation.
Both Doug and I were highly impressed with your teaching skills and when I teach, I will try to emulate your enthusiasm, attention to detail and your level of preparedness. Again thanks for all that you do and for the positive impact you have made through what I consider to be an invaluable personal security system and life changing program. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance.
Take care and stay safe,
Steve Powers, Coffee Master

Dave,
I want to thank you once again for putting on such an amazing class. The way you teach and how grateful you are to be doing what you are doing is inspiring to me. You found a great way to balance between your message and God’s message and I commend you for that. It is rare to find a Godly man in the extraordinary position that you are in. Rich had mentioned to you that he has added you to a few prayer lists to help you through the stress that you are experiencing at this time. I’m confident that you will overcome whatever obstacles that you are facing. Again, thank you for the opportunity to come to your class and I will definitely be seeing you again in the future. Oh, and great book by the way. I’m only a little ways into it but I’m sure the remainder is going to be just as great as the beginning.
God bless,

Thanks again for the awesome class on Customer Service. You really did a great job in presenting all the material. Bryan and I both feel it was fate, or maybe some other intervention, that brought us together. I am sure we will be staying in touch.

Hi Dave,
I just wanted to thank you again for making the MOAB certification training happen for us out here. The guys really enjoyed it as got a tremendous amount out of the training. They all spoke highly of the job you did instructing and the overall professionalism of the class, etc.
Safe travels and thanks again for your extra time and effort in creating a scheduling slot for us to get this done.

Hey Dave,
I took your MEB, PATH, OCAT class in Seattle, WA. I just wanted to say that those were the most professional and fruitful classes I have ever taken in 20 years in the security industry. I thank you so much for providing such a quality program from start to finish, simply the best I have seen. This is what training should be for the security industry and sadly it is not. Your methods work as we found in much of the extensive hands-on portions of each class. You exceeded my expectations and well worth it for any security or law enforcement to attend.

Dave,
I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with your OC training class today in Seattle, I just hope that someday my training skills are up to your level. The class was way beyond what I expected, material extremely well covered and the care you show for the students is amazing. I did not only become an OC instructor today, I also learned a lot of valuable training techniques as well. I look forward to the MOAB class on Wednesday.
Thank you,

Hello Dave,
I want you to know how impressed I was with you! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, I feel confident and prepared now! I hope that we will have many more opportunities to attend your classes! Please keep me posted and updated of your training sessions, if my department doesn’t pay for it, I would even pay for it myself, that is how important it is to me! I really would love to attend the MOAB course!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
God bless you always and be safe!

I had no idea that MOAB would be life transforming. I thought this would be just another workshop in the series I’ve recently attended as Gateways’ new patient safety officer. One thing I realized is that I do have good public speaking potential. I told you that I had not spoken publicly much, but later realized that I have. I haven’t had professional roles that require presentations/instructions, but I’ve had plenty of classroom experience. I plan to learn and master the art of public speaking.
However, the biggest benefit of the training was the opportunity to get up close and personal with my biggest area of vulnerability, lack of physical fitness. You made me feel really comfortable being the only female, but I struggled with feeling ashamed at how I’ve let myself go (mothers tend to do this). I hid my feelings of inadequacy by excessively talking about my children… sorry, this is what I do when I’m experiencing ANXIETY.
As apparent in my conversation, I’ve spent much time studying and practicing mental conditioning. Equally apparent to me was the little time I devote to conditioning my body. Dave, your approach to MOAB reminded me of the need for both mental and physical preparedness. I feel fired up about actually using my 24hr fitness membership. I’m also excited about practicing MOAB with Christine, and the two of us instructing our coworkers. Just Friday, while we were in MOAB training, a patient punched a staff member in her face and head, causing significant injury. I am hopeful that Christine and I will make a difference by using your training to promote safety.
Thanks for the experience.
Peace and Blessings,

“I recently took the three day Instructor Training course and it greatly exceeded my expectations. Personally, I found the course materials to be first rate. The principals are intuitive and applicable to our daily living, not just to the security field. The presenter, Dave Fowler, is obviously well-qualified. He’s an excellent speaker and he consistently kept the class engaged. Dave has been very responsive to my needs and all in all, I’m very impressed with both MOAB and Personal Safety Training Inc.

Hi Dave,
I really want to thank you for last week’s training. Speaking for myself and the other instructor trainees, we are in agreement that this was far and away the best program that any of us had attended on the management of angry and aggressive individuals. Now, we can put this set of skills into practice.

Greetings Dave -
What a marvelous training – not only do I have great information for training, but also feel more confident in managing aggressive people myself. Thank you so much for the work, presence and intention you put forth for the training. I will be in touch.

Thanks Dave,
Your class was the top of all instruction I have had in the past twenty years. You are a very motivational speaker and you have a passion for MOAB that I have seen only a couple of time in my career, I hope to do this program justice and have the same passion as you do.
Ernie Thurman, Security Director

Hi Dave – Thought the training was great and I have
been all over the nation and abroad taking training
and instructing. I plan to start training the staff as
soon as I get my certification & that will satisfy
hospital licensing. I also am the Medical Director at
a clinic here “Free Indeed” and need to train that
staff – we had an incident Friday that escalated to
police intervention & MOAB techniques could have been
used as an intervention.
Thanks,
Lou Cataldie, MD
Thanks for the training it has be very helpful, just approaching the students and telling them to go to class has been a lot easier. I also know now that standing the right way and distance helps me with the reaction time I hope we can have more of this training, as we can really use it.
Thanks ,

Hey Dave:
Just wanted to give you an update on how Dean and I are doing with our training. Since we returned from Seattle last year, we have been super busy training employees at Trinity Regional Medical Center. We have trained over 150 responders to date. I must say without any doubt that MOAB has been a huge success and has prevented serious injury to many an employee and has empowered our staff so much more than CPI ever did! People were of course a little reluctant to make the move to MOAB simply because they had always trained and recertified for CPI. After they complete our class, they too are true believers and feel much more secure knowing that they can use proven and effective techniques to handle any situation. We have had at least 20 “Code Greens” in the past two weeks alone which is what we normally have per quarter if that!! I find myself literally “chomping at the bit” to respond to our psych unit when the code is called. I have used the resistive escort several times by myself and taken care of the patient without the help of several others.
My whole point here is we have been thrilled with our training and it has been a hit! Just last night, a nurse helped me out as my arm was locked up under an out of control patient. She applied pressure in the ear with knuckle and compliance was immediate! I was thrilled and she was very empowered and our whole goal has been to make this automatic with staff and I must admit, they are doing very well!
Please add us to your list of very pleased clients that you proudly display on your webpage! I think Dean and I are very effective instructors as we had the best in you during our Seattle trip! We reference your skills and training often and have truly made TRMC a much safer facility in the process.
Please keep in touch and we certainly look forward to working with you in the future!!

Through reading the course content on the Web site, it appeared the MOAB training you offered was everything I wanted in a course. Ah, but one never knows, Web sites can be deceiving. Then I took the three-day course. I was blown away by every facet of your training. For me, it thoroughly covered the bases in recognizing the red flags of aggressions (or lack thereof), reacting to them appropriately, and resolving whatever aggression I may be presented with, whether it be verbal aggression or an outright physical attack. I have been to many trainings over the years, but yours was, by far, the best. What you taught me are highly effective techniques that anyone can learn, that were usable the minute I walked out the door. In addition, you made sure I understood the foundation and principle of each technique, so that I could practice efficiently and correctly, allowing me to become better and better as time goes by. Maybe most important, and something I value maybe more than anything, was the graduated steps which I learned to face a potential threat; from using verbalization, desensitizing touch, hands on escort, to taking it to the ground, you always put the accent on de-escalation and using the minimal force needed to keep myself and the aggressor safe. Your ability to deliver strategies and techniques is amazing, and you are obviously a natural teacher. Thank you for everything you have given me; meeting you, getting to know you, and being a part of this MOAB three-day course was an absolute pleasure. Warm regards,
John A. Miglorie, Volunteer Victim Support Team (VST)

Dave,
I am writing to thank you again for your Management of Aggressive Behavior Training Program. As a forensic psychologist who works in both the correctional and healthcare arenas, I regularly encounter individuals who pose potential threats to me and to others as a result of their anxiety, mental illness or malicious intent. As a trained instructor of Rape Escape, a previous student of myriad safety programs, and a beginning student of Krav Maga, I have a basic familiarity with self-defense and safety programs. No other program in my experience compares to MOAB for its practical support for dealing with aggressive and potentially aggressive individuals, and for its effectiveness in training practitioners to its philosophy and techniques. MOAB’s emphasis on deescalation and compassionate control of verbally and physically aggressive individuals has universal applicability. The MOAB methods of threat assessment, aggression prevention and force-appropriate intervention are applicable to a long continuum of professional sectors, ranging from retail establishments to schools and health care facilities to law enforcement. Your training methodology is impressive for its efficacy in supporting individuals with varied levels of experience in safety techniques. I was personally impressed to watch fellow students from law enforcement as well as those with no exposure to safety efforts gain proficiency with MOAB’s techniques. I have no doubt that MOAB is actively contributing to the safety of its students, as well as to the safety of those with whom they live and work. Thanks to you and your colleagues for offering the MOAB program.
With gratitude,
Diana M. Concannon, Psy.D., PCI
“My staff and I have been using the MOAB program for the last three years. We have found it to be very helpful and much more effective than methods we have used in the past. I feel it is an excellent tool and it is used on a daily basis.”

Our Company has been looking for a course, such as MOAB for the past 5 plus years. A course, which teaches, first verbal de-escalation techniques, and then moves into managing physical confrontations. – The whole package. MOAB is perfect! It is exactly what we have been looking for. Although most of these techniques were not new and unfamiliar to us, we’ve never seen it put together into such a neatly wrapped and effective package such as this! We have presented it to our corporate offices for implementation. We’ll keep you posted, but we anticipate that this may go nationwide, especially with the growth rate of our company! Thank you Dave, the course was very informative and comprehensive. Your teaching technique was motivational and inspirational!

First of all I would like to again thank you for a great seminar. The way you presented yourself and the material was both professional and non-threatening which got everyone involved. Your positive attitude and consistent praise for your students made even those who were a little unsure of themselves at the beginning, walk out of that room with a new level of confidence. I’ve been in the corporate security business for 20 years and during that time I have attended numerous seminars and I would rank the MOAB training in my top two. Early next year I am sending my other three direct reports to attend the training. I have also spoken to several heads of security to highly recommend the MOAB training.
Respectfully,

To MOAB Management,
I am writing this e-mail specifically about Dave Fowler. Over the course of the last twenty plus years I have attended many presentations and classes on self empowerment and defense. During that time, I served as a instructor in several areas within the US Army. Over my 21 year career in the Army and Army Reserve, as well as an instructor in the private sector, I am proud and pleased to inform you that Dave Fowler is the most passionate and professional instructor that I have had the pleasure to be associated with. His dedication to training myself and two of my colleagues was absolutely incredible. In most cases, once you receive a training class you do not hear from that instructor ever again. Dave has been the complete opposite. Dave has continued to offer his support through phone calls and e-mails. Anytime I have had a question or needed help with anything, Dave has been there. I cannot tell you in words how highly regarded my colleagues and specifically myself hold Dave and his training standards. While in the Army, I had the pleasure to serve as a member of the Tomb of the Unknown Solider. While there, the standard that was set for us was perfection and attention to detail. Without question, I can tell you that Dave Fowler would have not only meet that standard but would have surpassed it. Dave has been nothing less that outstanding from the time he came and gave us the instructor’s class to the support he has shown to present day. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Dave Fowler is a great credit not only to himself but to MOAB. I have spoken with several colleagues within the security management arena and have recommended MOAB and also told them that Dave Fowler makes the class a positive life altering experience.
With warmest regards,
Joseph McNeal, Training Manager
Allied-Barton Security Services, Alta Bates Summit Medical Center
I’ve been through a lot of training and few classes met the standard, integrity and quality you displayed in yours. I felt I walked away having earned not purchased proficiency which is an issue with many training companies. I plan on attending the MOAB® in Seattle as well as OCAT® when scheduling permits.
Steve Powers, Protection Team Leader, Starbucks Coffee Company
Dave;
I have a tremendous respect for what you put into your courses and believe I left with far more than just a professional relationship. Leaving the “MOAB” course, I do feel empowered. It has opened so many doors and I feel there is so much more to learn as I begin to teach it. It has tremendous applicability to executive protection work and the corporate world. I’ve already practiced a few of the physical control techniques with one of my protection specialists to reinforce what I’ve learned. I hope to take OCAT in March or if you think you’ll come to Seattle in April I will urge my boss to allow another specialist to attend as well.
Steve Powers, Protection Team Leader, Starbucks Coffee Company
I just wanted to let you know that I feel fortunate to have gone through the training when I did. Last Friday I had a student swing a school chair at me. We were in a fairly enclosed room and I ended up having to take him to the ground. This was the first time in the 14 years of MAP Schooling that I had to lay hands on a student. Fortunately neither of us was hurt. I appreciate your professionalism and thoroughness in preparing us.

The MOAB® training was exceptional. The third day was mostly physical contact and extremely challenging both physically and mentally. It was a quality training that I would recommend to anyone, of any age, of any physical size and from any profession. The “main” concept was how to defuse a situation, but you were given skills to handle the situation, should it accelerate all the way to possible physical contact. The instructor (Dave Fowler) was exceptional. I could go on but I would sound like an advertisement. I look forward to sharing this information with all who are interested.
Judene E. Diehl, Spokane Regional Health District
Great class!! Very valuable and useful information, thanks Thanks so very much Dave, good info! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, I learned a lot! The professionalism was outstanding, Thank you Thank you Dave for a fabulous workshop Dave, Outstanding and very practical, I look forward to working with you It was great Thank you Dave, I really enjoyed the Personal Safety course I really enjoyed your presentation

I truly believe that MOAB® in many aspects is a way of life. Healthy/Confident and sure way of life. This class has opened my eyes to a newer, safer way of thinking and approaching people all together. I do believe that I will have a much more efficient and more confident security staff of over 200 after all have completed the MOAB® course. I truly believe in MOAB® and would highly recommend MOAB® training for any security outfit anywhere in the world.

“I am a strong proponent of MOAB as what I feel is the best training program of it’s kind. I would also recommend Dave as one of the premier instructors in this discipline”.

As the security manager for a large electric and water utility, I was faced with an ongoing problem of threats and assaults against our front line employees. Based on recommendations, we instituted the MOAB program and are very pleased with the results. Employees feel more confident in their ability to recognize anxious and aggressive behaviors and choose the right response to prevent the situation from escalating. We have seen a marked reduction in both criminal threats and assaults since instituting the MOAB program. I had the good fortune to receive my MOAB Instructor training from Dave Fowler of Personal Safety Training Inc. His real life experiences and insights as well as his energy, enthusiasm and knowledge of martial arts make him an exceptionally well qualified instructor.
